The Rev. L. Glen Ahlf, 95, father of Carolynn Krohn of Iola, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, in Port Charlotte, Fla.
He is also survived by another daughter, Jan Armbrust and her husband, Larry, Port Charlotte; a son, John, and daughter-in-law, Sandra, Houma, La.; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; a foster grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
He was born Nov. 29, 1914, in Wichita, to John Lewis and Olive Gertrude (Everett) Ahlf. He graduated from Southwestern Bible College, Enid, Okla., and later from Evangel University, Springfield, Mo. with a bachelor of arts. In 1940, he was ordained as a minister with the Kansas District Council of the Assemblies of God.
He taught in Ash Grove, Mo., High School from 1969 to 1976.
On June 2, 1940, he married the Rev. Ann Howard in Pratt. They pastored Kansas churches in Corwin, Medicine Lodge, Humboldt, Garden City, Chanute and Pratt. She died in 1999.
A son-in-law, Reinhard Krohn, a great-grandchild, brothers, Harold and Lester, and sisters, Marguerite Reynolds and Hazel Megee, died earlier.
Memorial services, with grandsons the Revs. Jay Newland and Hans Krohn officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Central Assembly of God Chapel, 1301 Boonville Ave., Springfield, Mo. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens under direction of Klingner-Cope Funeral Homes.
Friends may greet the family at the chapel from 9 a.m. until service time.
