Herbert Kenneth Johnson, 88, of Humboldt died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at his home.
He was born March 24, 1922, in Humboldt, to Roscoe H. and Adah (Coppage) Johnson. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1939 and Chanute Junior College in 1943.
On July 31, 1943, he married Elizabeth Sinclair in Long Beach, Calif. She died June 30, 2010.
He owned and operated a Texaco Service Station for 32 years. He was also a regular and substitute postal carrier.
He was a charter member of Humboldt Lions Club and was a member of Humboldt United Methodist Church, Masons, Scottish Rite, Allen County Airport Board, Humboldt Housing Authority and served as chief for the Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by a daughter, Marlene Weilert and her husband, Stephen, Humboldt; two sons, Kenneth A. and his wife, Nancy, Bella Vista, Ark., and Jeffery Lynn and his wife, Sybil, Bailey, Colo.; grandchildren, Jan Roe, Scott Johnson, Jennifer Stoneking, Jeremy Weilert, Brent Weilert, Justin Sinclair Johnson and Heather Johnson; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Humboldt United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
