Kelly Preston Peery, 47, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe.
He was born on June 30, 1962, in Iola, the son of Marvin and Judy (Blagg) Peery. He grew up in the Lone Elm, Kincaid and Bush City areas.
He attended school in Fort Scott, Lone Elm, Kincaid and was in the Crest Class of 1981 at Colony. He earned his General Education Development diploma in 2001 from Allen County Community College.
Growing up, he belonged to Seekers Not Slackers 4-H Club and Kincaid Cub Scouts. More recently he belonged to Kincaid Fair Association, Kincaid Fire Department and was a life member of National Rifle Association.
He worked with heavy equipment and farmed with his father. He also worked at different times with Adams Construction of Garnett.
He liked hunting, fishing, trapping, camping and spending time outdoors. He also liked to spend time building cedar furniture and collecting antiques and going to steam engine shows.
He is survived by his parents, Marvin and Judy Peery, his sister, Kim Ellis and her husband, Terry, a niece, Haley Ellis, and a nephew, Brock Ellis, all of Lone Elm; his aunt, Marilyn Smith and her husband, Jack, Topeka; cousins, Susan Larison and family and Dusty Larison and family, Topeka, and Holly Decker and family, Manhattan; and friends and relatives.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. April 10, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett. Inurnment will follow in Lone Elm Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Kincaid Fair Association or Old Kincaid High School Fund.
