Keith Bauer, 52, brother of Robert Bauer of Iola, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at a hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was born June 26, 1958, in Reno, Nev., to Roy Sylvester and Doris Jean Thomas Bauer.
He was raised in Fernley, Nev., but always considered Kansas home. He attended Ricks College, Brigham Young University and Pittsburg State University receiving bachelor degrees in nursing. He served a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints mission in Shreveport, La., and later served in Jackson, Miss. He enjoyed traveling, temple work and family history.
On Oct. 12, 1996, he married Gaylene Marie Schmardebeck in the Manti, Utah, LDS Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Gaylene; a niece/daughter, Kassie Openshaw-Rodriguez and her husband, R.J., Salt Lake City; sisters, Tamie Cline and her husband, Bill, Umatilla, Ore., Debbie and her husband, Oliver Stone, Libby, Mont., and Alicia Bauer-Lawson, Savonburg; his mother-in-law, Sister Gwen Schmardebeck; and three grandchildren: Austin, Ashlynne and Andrew Rodriguez.
His parents, sisters, Sherrie Bauer and Amber Bauer, and his father-in-law, Gail Schmardebeck, died earlier.
Services were Sept. 2 in Salt Lake City.
