Lenor Kathryn Katy Lopeman, age 91 of Chanute, passed away on May 8, 2018 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville. She was born April 18, 1927, in Hurley, S.D., the daughter of William and Mabel (Odland) Pens.
Katy graduated from Humboldt High School in 1944 and went on to take several classes at NCCC. On April 18, 1946, she married Robert U. Lopeman in Erie; they later divorced. Katy enjoyed playing ukulele, singing and yodeling. Katy was a giving person and loved baking and bicycling. She enjoyed participating in the farmers market and teaching her grandchildren how to bake. Katy loved to travel and was proud to have visited 50 states and nine countries. She worked as Tupperware dealer and manager and later did the same thing for Rubbermaid. Katy also worked as the activity director at care homes. In 1993, she started Katys Kart Ministry and donated most of the profits to numerous youth charities, as unto the Lord. Katy most of all loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her family. Katy was a past member of the Chanute Advisory Board of EHU and St. Peters Lutheran Church in Humboldt, and a current member of Ambassador Christian Church in Chanute.
Katy is survived by sons William Lopeman and wife Marla, Douglas Lopeman and wife Marita; daughter-in-law Cheryl Lopeman-Lyon; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren.
Katy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Steven Lopeman and a brother, William Henry Pens, Jr.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Ambassador Christian Church in Chanute. Interment will follow at Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute.
