Kathy Marie Peters died Monday, Jan. 9, 2017.
Kathy was born in Iola on July 18, 1958, to Francis and Alvina Peters. She attended St. John’s Catholic School and graduated from Iola High School. She worked at Miller’s Dress Factory in Iola. After graduating she went to work for Kansas Department of Transportation in Olathe. She worked for Kansas Department of Transportation for 32 years, retiring in 2011.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Alvina Peters, and her brother, Joseph Peters. She is survived by five brothers, Eugene Peters and his wife Karen, Broken Arrow, Okla., Dennis Peters and wife Nadine, Chanute, Mark Peters and wife Virginia, Iola, Francis Peters Jr. and wife Gracie, Morgan Hill, Calif., and Louis Peters and wife Cynthia, Grain Valley, Mo.; and one sister, Carol Ann (Peters) Wilson and husband Mark, Iola. She also is survived by her sister-in-law, Roxy Peters of Iola. She will be sadly missed by her several nieces and nephews, and her friends who were a big part of her life.
Kathy will be cremated according to her wishes. A “Celebration of Life” is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula St., Olathe. A memorial service will take place in Iola at a later date. Inurnment will be at Iola’s Highland Cemetery.
