Kathryn Jean Jones, 84, Winfield, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Winfield Senior Living.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. There will be a visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the funeral. Memorial contributions in Kathryns name may be made to the USD 465 Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Contributions may be left in care of the funeral home.
Kathryn Jean was born in Roseland on Feb. 22, 1934, the daughter of Erneste and MaryAnn (Florio) Aquino. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1952 and attended the Pittsburg State Nursing Program after graduating. She married the love of her life, William Francis Jones, on Sept. 1, 1956 in Scammon. Kathryn enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her family. She worked for Home Health Care, Western Insurance Company and was a para-professional at Lowell Elementary School and the Winfield Middle School. She was involved with the Red Hat Society of Winfield, Epsilon Sigma Alpha of Wichita, and was a proud breast cancer survivor. Kathryn also loved cooking, decorating her home, and being a Nana to her five grandchildren, she never missed an opportunity to cheer them on.
Surviving to honor her memory are children: Marcia McIntire of Winfield, Mark Jones and wife Stephanie of Winfield and Mitchell Jones of Dallas; grandchildren: Jared McIntire of Winfield, Jordan McIntire of Lawrence, Jae McIntire of Lawrence, Nick Jones and wife Rylee of Rose Hill and Alyssa Jones of Wichita; and brother Joe Aquino. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and sisters: Mary Selpancic, Jody Hinson, and Gerry Aquino.
