Judith Sheryl Thompson, 67, died at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.
She was born Nov. 7, 1943, in Moran, the second of four children born to Lawrence “Blackie” Klimek and Doris Klimek (Burt). She attended Moran schools and graduated from Marmaton Valley High School in 1961.
On June 10, 1962, she married Freddie Leon Thompson at United Methodist Church in Moran. They later divorced.
She was employed by Allen County State Bank for 25 years. She retired from the bank and relocated to Joplin, Mo., and began work for Smithway Motor Express. In 2000, she moved to Fort Dodge and was employed by Western Express until her death. She spent many hours caring for her yard, garden and flowers wherever she lived.
She is survived by two sons, Kent and his wife, Susan, rural LaHarpe, and Kurt and his wife, Cheryl, Springfield, Mo.; four grandchildren, Kenna and Kyler Thompson, Pittsburg, and Mia and Ami Thompson, Springfield; three sisters, Janice Booth and her husband, Darrell, and Joy Klimek, both of Gardner, and Janet Adams, Des Moines, Iowa.
Graveside memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Moran Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Moran senior/community center after the service.
