Juanita Maxine Chriestenson, 92, Neosho Falls, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at Windsor Place in Iola.
Juanita was born Aug. 3, 1923, in Chanute, the daughter of Henry and Iva (Tannahill) Bushman. She was raised on the family farm west of Neosho Falls. She eloped and married Charley S. Chriestenson on Jan. 24, 1940 in Scranton. They always made their home in Neosho Falls. She was the bookkeeper for Chriestenson Oil Well Service for years and also worked as a cook at the Neosho Falls Grade School and later as a physical therapist at Countryside Nursing Home in Iola. Charley preceded her in death Feb. 17, 1993.
She was a member of the Neosho Falls United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday School and was in charge of the youth group for many years. She also belonged to several ladies clubs in the area.
Survivors are her six daughters, Patricia Schuster, Iola, Janice (Eddie) Eckroat, Piqua, Charlene (Wayne) German, Neosho Falls, Glenda (Nathan) Brown, Yates Center, Sheryl (Leon) Valentine, Burlington, and Lorena Burke, Burlington; one son Robert (Debbie) Chriestenson, Neosho Falls; son-in-law, Mike Bruner, Neosho Falls; one brother, Sandford Bushman, Leavenworth; 19 grandchildren, Sheila Lampe, Doug Eckroat, Roxanne Morris, Jana Eckroat, Ronald German, Susan Leedy, Sara Patterson, Jay Bruner, Becky Spencer, Angie Whitney, Robin Peterman, Melissa Jones, Trent Chriestenson, Autumn Valentine, Ashlee Stone, Brandon Valentine, Tara Crooks, Tiffany Burke and Myca Smith; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter Linda Bruner; three grandchildren, Nick Brown, Krista (Bruner) Grogg and Ben Burke; and sister Metta Dayhoff.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the Neosho Falls United Methodist Church.
Burial will be at Cedarvale Cemetery, Neosho Falls.
