Johnson services

Myrtle G. Johnson, 87, formerly of rural Moran, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Barone Alzheimer’s Care Center in Nevada, Mo.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Family will receive friends prior to the service. Burial will follow in Moran Cemetery.

Myrtle was born Jan. 27, 1925, to William A. and Hazel F. (Powell) Tharp in El Dorado Springs, Mo. On Oct. 6, 1945, she married Warren M. Johnson, who preceded her in death March 13, 2012.

Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker, and worked at the Allen County Extension office for 39 years. She and her husband also farmed in the Moran area. She was a member of the former Presbyterian Church in Moran.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Earnestine Preston, Mosline Sloan and Donnis Boyer, and one brother, Bill Tharp Jr.
