John Robert Reiter, 93, Colony, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, at Residential Living Center in Garnett.
John was born July 1, 1922, in Geneva, the son of Scott and Pearl (Crocker) Reiter. On July 25, 1944, he married Imogene Patrick and they made their home on farms in Allen and Anderson counties before moving to Colony 35 years ago. He was sexton for the Colony Cemetery for 30 years before retiring. His wife preceded him in death on May 26, 2002.
Survivors are his two sons, Robert Reiter, Topeka, and John Scott Reiter, LaHarpe; four daughters: Roberta Mang, Schuyler, Neb., Frances Reiter, Welda, Pearl Lampe, Piqua, and Donna Korthals, Baxter Springs; one sister, Ethel Beckmon, Iola; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Pat Bain, two brothers, Frank Reiter and Forrest Reiter, and five sisters, Frances Decker, Gladys Sherwood, Opal Powers, Bessie Dorsey and Mary Jones
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, in the Colony Cemetery
