James Lee “Jim” Cole, 50, of LaHarpe died Monday, April 19, 2010, at his home.
He was born July 24, 1959, in Eureka, to Edwin Lee and Annette (Sanderson) Cole. He grew up in Gas where he attended elementary school. The family moved to LaHarpe when he was a teenager.
On Dec. 20, 1997, he married Linda R. Robb at United Methodist Church in LaHarpe. They made their home in LaHarpe. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and was working for Nelson Quarries and for his father at Cole’s Trash Service of LaHarpe.
He was an artist and enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing and caring for his dog, Stinky.
He is survived by his wife of the home; a daughter, Shelby Cardona and her husband, Noeli, Topeka; a granddaughter, Doraysi Cardona; his parents, Edwin and Annette Cole, LaHarpe; a grandmother, Catherine Sanderson, Humboldt; three sisters, Charlotte Wright and her husband, Kenny, Iola, and Shelly Sinclair and her husband, Floyd, and Bobbie Nunnery and her husband, Paul, LaHarpe; nine nieces and nephews; eight great- nieces and nephews; his in-laws, Harry and Mary Robb, LaHarpe; two brothers-in-law, Gordon Robb and his wife, Yvette, Gas, and Robert Robb, LaHarpe; two sisters-in-law, Carrie Riebel and her husband, Randy, Iola, and Becky Hedman and her husband, Mike, LaHarpe; and 11 nieces and nephews and 10 great- nieces and nephews on the Robb side of the family.
His grandparents, Lester and Pearl Cole, a grandfather, Lawrence Sanderson, and an aunt, Marilyn Sanderson, died earlier.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapels in Iola.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at LaHarpe Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home in Iola for a short time of visitation at 10 o’clock before leaving for the cemetery. The Rev. Merle McKibbens will officiate.
