On Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, Jess Wiley Morrison was surrounded by family and friends at Allen County Regional Hospital when he lost his long hard-fought battle with his illness.
Jess was born Dec. 29, 1965, in Chanute, the son of Earl and Marilyn (Collins) Morrison. He grew up in Woodson County and graduated from Yates Center High School in 1984. Jess was very active in 4-H for 12 years and participated in sports and FFA throughout his high school years.
On Aug. 7, 1993, Jess married Kim Pratt in Las Vegas. With this marriage they have two sons, Chase (Dani), Iola, and Cole, of the home. Jess owned and operated his own cabinet business until his sickness in 2009. Jess enjoyed spending time with his boys, grandsons, nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed playing golf, watching KU basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Morrison, and his father-in-law, Alvin Pratt.
Survivors include his wife, Kim; two sons Chase (Dani) and Cole; five grandkids, Bryson, Brindley, Kale, Bentley and Landon; his mother, Marilyn (Morrison) Seward, Iola; his mother-in-law, Jeanette Pratt, Iola; three brothers, Charles (Sandy) Morrison, Mark Morrison and Steven (Dina) Morrison; and two sisters, Debbie (Dave) Trahan and Cheryl Morrison, all of Yates Center; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 o’clock at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola. The funeral mass will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in Iola. Memorials are suggested to the Cole Morrison Education Fund and may be left with the funeral home.
