Janet (Morrison) Treat died Tuesday, March 7, 2017, due to the effects of advanced Parkinson’s disease. She was born July 11, 1943, the daughter of Clarence and Juanita Morrison.
She grew up on the family farm six miles northeast of LaHarpe, attending Waverly school, LaHarpe Grade School, Iola High School and Junior College and Kansas State College of Pittsburg.
Her husband of 52 years, Earl, survives, as do sons, David, Douglas, Daniel, Dathan, and Dustin; 12 grandchildren; and one brother, Bill Morrison.
Janet and her family farmed near Colby for several years, and she and Earl have lived in Colby most recently. The family also resided in the Loveland and Fort Collins area of Colorado for a number of years. Earl and Janet were teachers in both public and private schools for many years.
As the Soviet Union was breaking up in the early 1990s, Earl and Janet’s church in Fort Collins sent the family to the Republic of Georgia to start a Christian school. This School of Tomorrow continues in operation today, and has provided a solid Christian education to many hundreds of youngsters in the Caucasus region of the former Soviet Union. Students attend from several countries, and many have a Muslim family background. Janet and Earl are highly esteemed and loved by many Georgians.
Janet’s devotion to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was evident to all who knew her. One of her daughters-in-law sums it up this way: “She radiated Jesus more than any living soul I’ve ever known.”
