James Willard Rhine, 59, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011, of a heart attack in Iola.
Jim was born Sept. 26,1951, in Winterset, Madison County, Iowa, the son of Willard Dale and Wilma Elizabeth Eyerly Rhine. He grew up in Earlham, Iowa, and graduated from Earlham High School in 1969.
For several years Jim lived and worked in Iowa. After the death of his parents he lived and worked in different states, Tennessee, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Arizona and Kansas.
He operated Northrup House Bed and Breakfast from 2005 to 2008.
He is survived by a sister, Jean Vandewater and her husband, Larry Joe, of rural Greenfield; a brother, Larry and his wife, Sharon, Slater, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Richard Poland, Treynor, Iowa; nephews, Brad Rhine, Griswold, Iowa, Aaron Poland, Bryce Poland, his wife, Jamie, and children, Hailee and Brock, Treynor; nieces, Debbie Miller and her husband, Tim, Hackett, Ark., Amy Poland, Laredo, Texas, and Melissa Wisniewski, her husband, Mark, and son, Andrew, Carson, Iowa; an aunt, Erma Inman, Earlham; an uncle, John Mitchell, Adel; and several cousins and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Jerry, and sister, Betty Poland.
Family graveside memorial services were July 9 in the Eartham Cemetery. His cousin Linda Burnett, retired pastor of the Earlham Friends Church, conducted the services.
