Jack H. McBride, 68, Moran, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at Allen County Hospital in Iola.

Jack was born Nov. 25, 1942, in Texarkana, Texas, the son of John Henry and Vila Mae (Farren) McBride. He grew up in Texas and married Ruth Alred. They were later divorced.

He served in the United States Air Force. Following his military duty, he married Janet McAloon on May 4, 1964. They made their home in Texas for five years before moving to Moran, where they lived since. 

He worked in the oil fields around Moran before going to work for the City of Moran where he worked 10 years before retiring. He recently worked part time cutting meat for Stub’s Market in Moran.

He was a member of the American Legion in Moran and Chanute Elks Lodge. His favorite pastime was shooting trap.

His wife survives, as does a son, John, Lawrence; three daughters, Marsha McBride, Dallas, Texas, Jacque Vincent, Walnut, and Kathy Milner, Erie; his mother-in-law, Lillie McAloon, Moran; a brother, Danny, Texarkana; a sister, Larrisa Spicer, Texarkana; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Carol.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate. Burial will follow at Moran Cemetery.

Memorial gifts to American Heart Association may be left with Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
