Ivalee Schell, 91, Manhattan, died Friday, May 9, 2014, at her residence.

She was born July 13, 1922, in Natoma, the daughter of Harvey and Beulah (Zimmerman) McFadden. She moved to Manhattan from Beloit, in 1968.

Ivalee graduated from Iola High School in 1940 and then earned her bachelor’s in gerontology from Kansas State University.

On Sept. 12, 1942, she was married to Stanley Schel lin Kansas City, Kan. He preceded her in death on July 22, 2011.

 Ivalee was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family and the house. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Beloit, and then at First United Methodist Church after moving to Manhattan. She enjoyed playing bridge, dancing when she was younger and Kansas State athletics.

 Ivalee is survived by her two children, Patricia “Trisha” Schell, Olathe, and Kent Schell and his wife Rovilla, Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Natalie Teasley,Topeka; three grandchildren, Stanley Lloyd Schell, Erich Gregory Schmitz and Erin McKenzie Schmitz; four great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edwin McFadden.

Cremation is planned with memorial services to be at 10 a.m., Thursday, at First United Methodist Church, 612 Poyntz Ave., Manhattan, with the Rev. Melanie Martin officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort Riley.

 The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home.

 In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church to be used for the organ maintenance. Contributions may be left in care of the funeral home, 1616 Poyntz Ave., Manhattan, KS 66502.
