Hilda M. Cooper, formerly of Neosho Falls, passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, in Springfield, Mo. She was 90.
Hilda was born July 6, 1926, in Lincoln, to James and Ruth M. (Eslinger) Klameth. She grew up in Neosho Falls and attended a one-room schoolhouse, Punkin College. She helped with work on her family’s farm until marrying Carl D. Cooper on Sept. 16, 1946. They made their home in Neosho Falls and raised their daughter, Ilene. The family attended Neosho Falls United Methodist Church. Hilda moved to the Springfield area in 2003 to be close to her daughter.
Hilda enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She was a member of several organizations, including the Neosho Valley Senior Citizens, the Order of the Eastern Star, and EHU.
Hilda is survived by her daughter, Ilene (James) Helm, Springfield; two grandchildren, Amy (Travis) Compton and Michael Helm, Springfield; three great-grandchildren, Kira Compton and Tyler and Austin Helm; brothers Gerald Thayer, Yates Center, and Billy Guse, Riverside, Calif., and a sister, Emily Guse, Bath, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Junior Klameth.
A memorial service for Hilda will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at her graveside in Cedarvale Cemetery in Neosho Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and left in care of the funeral home. Condolences for the family may be left at www.feuerbornfuneral.com.
