Funeral services for Grace M. Calahan of Colony, whose death on Monday was published in Tuesday’s Register, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Colony. Burial will be in the Colony Cemetery.  

The family will be present to greet friends at 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. 

Grace was born on Oct. 4, 1922, in Ludlow, Mass., the daughter of Herbert and Effie (Mitchell) Wilson. She grew up in the area and attended local schools.

She was united in marriage to Vergil Calahan on Nov. 22, 1945, in Iola. This union was blessed with three children.

Grace worked as a clerk/secretary. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and playing scrabble.

She is survived by one son, Bruce and his wife, Linda, Lebo; two daughters, Gail Vermillion and her husband, Bob, Colony, and Tracy Mann and her husband, Darren, Moran; a childhood friend, Josie Swartz, Ludlow, who called her every week; a sister-in-law, Ellen Wilson; 10 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vergil, on June 23, 2009, three brothers, Ralph, David and Herbert, one sister, Ruth Dean, and one grandson, Devin Mann.
