Glenn Roberts, 92, Savonburg, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at his residence on the family farm.

Glenn was one of two children born to Walter and Nellie (Cation) Roberts. He was born Sept. 28, 1924, near Savonburg. Glenn was born and raised on the family farm in rural Savonburg. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1942. After graduation, he remained on the family farm and farmed with his father and brother. Glenn began driving the school bus for Humboldt USD 258 in the fall of 1959. In the fall of 1960 he met his wife Ginger at Zillah School where she was helping her mother. They were married Nov. 1, 1960, and lived on the family farm.

This union was blessed with three children, Patricia, John and Paula. 

Glenn raised row crops, grain and beef cattle in addition to driving the school bus for 37 years. After retiring from driving the bus, he became a bus supervisor for the district for six years. Glenn served on the Allen County Community College Board, Allen County Farm Bureau Board, Soil Conservation Board, and Rural Electric Cooperative Board. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards and farming. His favorite place to be was on the family farm.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; brother Floyd Roberts and his wife, Okah, a sister-in-law, Sybil Kammerer; and son-in-law Gregory Mix.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Mae (Ginger) Roberts, of the home; one son, John G. Roberts and Tami, Savonburg; two daughters, Patricia L. (Roberts) Mix, Troy, Mo., and Paula D. Goff and husband David, rural Savonburg; seven grandchildren, Clinton Mix and wife Carmen, Moscow Mills, Mo., Steven Goff and wife, Taylyn, Humboldt, Brian Goff and wife Michelle, Kansas City, Mo., Eric Mix, Troy, Mo., Kevin Goff, Chanute, Jason Goff, rural Savonburg, and Torrie Lewis, Iola; and five great-grandchildren, Preston, Porter, Kobyn, Kaxtyn and Ellis.

His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Calvary United Methodist Church in Iola. Glenn will lie in state at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola beginning at noon Friday, with the family greeting friends from 5 to 8 that evening. Burial will be in Leanna Cemetery near 2400 Street and Alabama Road. The family requests contributions in memory of Glenn in lieu of flowers.
