Glenda Irene Jones, 61, of rural Iola died Saturday, June 12, 2010, at her home.
She was born July 5, 1948, in Iola, to Glen and Marguerite (Creason) Carter. After graduating from Iola High School she attended cosmetology school in Iola. She worked as a beautician until returning to school. She received training in Chanute to become a licensed practical nurse. She worked several years for Sterling Heights Manor where she was director of nurses. She then worked for I.M.P. Boats before she returned to her nursing career at Tara Gardens where she worked until her health failed.
On June 4, 1971, she married George Jones.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Chris and his wife, Marlana, Humboldt, and Josh and his wife, Jennifer, Iola; a daughter, Miki Karns and her husband, Brett, Gas; two sisters, Pam Roush, Iola, and Roberta Gregory, LaHarpe; six grandchildren, Maciah, McKinley, McKadin, Nicholas, Madison and Shaylee; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel in Iola. Chaplain Lloyd Houk will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
