Gerald Eugene Hoddy, 65, passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.
Gerald was born Nov. 16, 1950, in Iola, the son of Roscoe Richard and Evelyn Florence (Thomas) Hoddy. He grew up in LaHarpe and Iola and graduated from Iola High School in 1968. On Aug. 9, 1969, he married Beverly V. Trester in Iola. They have made their home in Iola, Chanute and most recently Humboldt. Gerald has worked in the oil fields at Sedan, where they lived for over 10 years. He had also worked for I.B.P. in Emporia and Walmart in Paola, Iola, and the Ottawa Distribution Center.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly; three children, James Hoddy, Topeka, Vinetta Hoddy Young and Julie Hoddy, both of Humboldt; two grandsons, Michael and Thomas Young; two sisters, Velma Zink and Pauline Hawk, both of Spring Hill, and two brothers, Roscoe Hoddy Jr., Liberal, and David Hoddy. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Freda Kincaid, Pamella Pulley and Victor, Clinton and Everett Hoddy.
