John “Gene” Kemmerer, 68, Humboldt, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016, in Nowata, Okla. Gene was born Aug. 1, 1947, in Chanute, the son of Charles and Ella (Bailey) Kemmerer.
Gene graduated from Humboldt High School. He enjoyed sports and loved the KC Chiefs, KC Royals, and K-State Wildcats. Gene always enjoyed helping others and he continued doing that in the various nursing homes he lived in. Gene was a member of the Leanna Christian Church and also served as treasurer for a period of time.
Gene is survived by sisters, Mary Stark and husband Con, Sue Hurst and husband John, Helen Uitts and Carol Tucker; seven nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carl Kemmerer.
