Freda Miriam Javaux, 99, of Caldwell, Idaho, died Sunday, June 6, 2010.
She was born June 10, 1910, to Earl and Winifred Remsberg Monfort. She grew up on a farm near Iola. She taught for a short time at the school she grew up in after receiving her teaching degree.
On May 1, 1935, she married Merle Javaux of Iola. Their honeymoon took them to Caldwell, Idaho. They purchased a farm near Notes, Idaho. She remained on the original 40-acre farm after her husband’s death on Sept. 25, 1989.
In March 2004, she moved into Autumn Winds Assisted Living facility, where she lived until September 2008 when she moved to Karcher Estates.
She was a 68-year member of Notus and Pleasant Ridge Granges, Canyon County Pomona Grange, Idaho State and National Granges. She was a 4-H leader for many years and also taught school at Notus and substituted at other Canyon County Schools for a few years. She also served a term on the Notus School Board.
She was an active member of Boone Memorial Presbyterian Church in Caldwell.
She is survived by daughter, Jane, Nampa, Idaho; sons, Richard and his wife, Eileen, Caldwell, Ronald and his wife, Carolyn, Middleton, Idaho, and John and his wife, Susan, Ankeny, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Gayla, Middleton; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Helene Eaves, Walla Walla, Wash., and Phil Monfort, Waitsburg, Wash.
A son, Charles, died earlier.
Memorial services were Saturday at Boone Memorial Presbyterian Church under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Private inurnment will be at Canyon Hill Cemetery.
