Frank Goddard

Frank B. Goddard, age 87, passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2020 at Andover Court Assisted Living. 

Frank was born Aug. 14, 1932 to Floyd and Esther (Watts) Goddard in Anthony. He graduated from Anthony High School in 1951. On Nov. 22, 1951 Frank married Frances Virginia (Downing) Goddard. Their union was blessed with three children, Larry, Jim, and Karen. 

After high school Frank began working at Boeing Military Aircraft where he worked until he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He served as an officer in the artillery, stationed in Ansbach, Germany for three years. Frank was later redeployed to Fort Sill, Okla. Upon leaving the Army, he moved his family back to Anthony, where Frank applied for the Kansas Highway Patrol and served from 1958 until 1992. From 1992 to 1996 he worked as a civilian for the Kansas Turnpike. After Frances’ passing, Frank met Sandra Ladd and took up bowling. They later went on to marry in January of 1999. 

Frank is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances Goddard; son, James Edward Goddard; brother, Floyd Dean Goddard; and step-son, Mark Ladd. 

Frank is survived by wife, Sandra Goddard; son, Larry (Paula) Goddard of Osawatomie; daughter, Karen (Bill) Weston of Moran; sister, Virginia Greenleaf of Tacoma, Wash.; step-son, Dean (Becky) Ladd of Clearwater; step-daughter, Sheryl (Todd) Tayrien of Wichita; step-daughter in-law, Patricia Bird of Wichita; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members. 

There will be a Rosary at 6 p.m. on Thursday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola. A visitation from 6:30 to 8 p.m. will take place after the Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Burial to follow at Highland Cemetery in Iola. 

Memorials in honor of Frank are suggested to the Salvation Army or the American Cancer Society and may be left with the funeral home.
