Eula Mae Simpson, 88, of Quinter and formerly of Colony died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Gove County Medical Center in Quinter.
She was born Aug. 21, 1922, in Welda, to James and Alma (Hyde) Tinsley. She was a one-room school teacher for a few years before she married William Russell Simpson on Feb. 3, 1945, in Garnett.
She enjoyed reading, working with small children and crocheting. The couple enjoyed traveling with their camping club and spent many winters in Albuquerque, N.M. He died June 6, 2001.
She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Ann Withers and husband, Harry, Altoona, and Bonna Lee Wheeler and husband, Rick, Quinter; six grandchildren, Sharon Hopkins and husband, Kenny, Gail Baker and husband, Jim, Lisa Lemon and husband, John, Leland Wheeler, Tonia Goodwin, and Sean Wheeler and wife, Stefania; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A brother, Charles Tinsley, and a granddaughter, Betty Ann Withers, died earlier.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Colony. The family will greet friends at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Colony Cemetery.
