Esther L. Weiland, 82, Iola, died Friday, March 20, 2015, at St. Francis-Via Christi Hospital in Wichita.
Esther was born Aug. 29, 1932, on a farm west of Iola, the daughter of Rollin Clifford and Nellie (Bassett) Butler. She moved to Iola where she graduated from Iola High School. On July 28, 1951, Esther married Leslie L. Weiland. They made their home in Neosho, Mo., until moving to Iola in 1971. Esther had worked as a bank marketing representative for 20 years when she retired from Commercial Federal Bank. Les preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 2014.
Esther enjoyed growing flowers, reading, playing the organ, and golf. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by two sons, Curtis Leslie Weiland, Petrolia, and Rick Steven Weiland, Iola; and three grandchildren, Melissa Niemeyer, Rick Leslie Weiland and Todd Weiland.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Mildred Heffernon, Marion Hood, Grace Hartman and Agnes Hammer.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel, with burial in Highland Cemetery
