Ellen M. Young, 92, formerly of Kansas City died Saturday, April 30, 2011.
She was born March 7, 1919, to Mary and William Lormor in Bronson. She graduated from Bronson High School. She attended cosmetology school in Kansas City, Mo. Afterward, she operated her own beauty shop in Bronson for four years.
On July 27, 1941, she married J. Harvey Young of Louisburg. She was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter in Bronson and was an active member of Welborn Community United Church of Christ for more than 60 years. For her many years of church service, she was awarded Deaconess Emeritus. She received her five-year pin as a Red Cross volunteer. Later in life, she worked at the Leader, Adler’s and retired from Kay’s Fashions in 1990. Her husband died Feb. 12, 1973.
She is survived by a son, Clinton, his wife, Iveta, and her two sons; two grandchildren, Pamela and Brian; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were this morning at Welborn Community United Church of Christ. Burial was in Louisburg Cemetery.
