Eleanor Russell, 77, of Humboldt died Sunday, May 1, 2011, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.
She was born Feb. 11, 1934, in rural Allen County, to Roy and Gladys (Wright) Riley. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1952.
She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for several years as an operator in Humboldt. She spent most of her life as a homemaker. She was a member of Humboldt United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Howard Russell, of the home; a son, David, Chanute; a daughter, Susan and her husband, Pat Ellis, Humboldt; a grandson, Riley Ellis; and a brother, Dennis Riley, Dallas, Texas.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Humboldt. There will be a private family burial following the service.
She will lie in-state from noon to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel.
