Edward John Droessler, 75, Iola, passed away Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at Medicalodge of Girard.
Edward was born April 15, 1941, in Sunnyside, N.Y., to Charles and Margaret (Zielinger) Droessler. He spent his early life in Queens, N.Y. He married Margaret Klein in 1962 at Throggs Neck in the Bronx, and together they had four sons. Just after their youngest was born the family moved to Brookfield, Conn. He and Margaret later settled in rural Allen County in 1987.
Edward enjoyed fishing in his younger years. He owned an automotive repair shop in New York, and later worked in Kansas as a handyman, doing repairs on buildings and automobiles. While in Kansas, he developed his love for farming by raising a wide variety of livestock and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of the home; four sons, Edward Jr., Washington Depot, Conn., Robert (Renee), Iola, William (Séan), Overland Park, and Daniel (Marlana), Girard; a sister, Margaret Cantera, Bayside, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Droessler Jr.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Friday with service following at 10 o’clock at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service of Iola. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Iola. Memorial contributions may be made to ACARF and left in care of the funeral home.
