Earlene Ann Johnson of Savonburg, whose death on Wednesday and visitation and funeral services were reported in Thursday’s Register, was born Dec. 21, 1931, in Chanute, the daughter of Earl and Verna Danielson Munson. Following graduation from Elsmore High School in 1949, Earlene married Harold LaVerne Johnson on May 7, 1950. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2008.

During her lifetime membership at Friends Home, Earlene served many years as the Sunday school music director and choir member. She assisted her mother several years as choir director, taking over the choir leader duties when her mother retired. She served as the church organist for more than 35 years. She also belonged to Women of ELCA (WELCA).
Earlene was an accomplished seamstress and cake maker. For both of her daughters’ weddings she made the bridesmaid dresses, wedding gowns and wedding cakes. She loved cooking and baking meals for her children’s and grandchildren’s weddings, graduations, baptisms and confirmations.
