Dorothy L. Hurst, 93, of Iola died Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Life Care Center of Wichita.
She was born March 13, 1917, in Washington, Mo., to Victor and Laura (Cockley) Datweiler. She grew up in Washington and graduated from Washington High School.
On Oct. 15, 1937, she married Robert E. “Bob” Hurst. They made their home in several communities before moving to Iola in 1951. He died March 6, 1990.
She worked several years for Archer Insurance and Real Estate and later for Ralph Moser Agency before her retirement.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Iola, a garden club and Allen County Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her three children, David and his wife, Pat, Sandy Collins and her husband, Dean, and Mike and his wife, Sandy; six grandchildren, Kevin Collins, Gregg Collins, Tracey Allen Bass, Paul Hurst, Ryan Hurst and Amanda Pokorny; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Two sisters, Mildred and Mae Datweiler, died earlier.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Iola. The Rev. Trudy Kenyon Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church.
