Dorothy M. Bingham, 96, formerly of Iola, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016 in Centralia.
Dorothy was born in Fort Scott on Feb. 3, 1920, to William and Oma (Eisenbrant) Crim, and was raised by stepfather Ira Bolling and her mother Oma. She grew up in the Fort Scott area where she graduated from high school in 1938. She then moved to Iola and worked in the dress factory. There she met Curtis “Bing” Bingham, whom she married in 1939. To this union were born three children: Gerald “Jerry,” Janice and Darrell. Following the deaths of Bing and Janice, she moved to the Topeka area to be close to her boys.
Survivors include her son, Jerry (Janice) Bingham of Topeka; grandchildren Kurt, Doug and Jason Bingham, Nick, Kendra, McKenzie and Caleb Bingham and Phillip and Shawn Cantrell; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Dorothy in death are her parents, husband in 1996, daughter Janice Cantrell in 1999 and son Darrell Bingham in 2014.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Saturday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola. The funeral service for Dorothy will immediately follow at 11. Burial is at Highland Cemetery in Iola. Memorials may be made to the Iola High School Class of 1960 Scholarship Fund.
