L. Doris Traw, 88, formerly of Emporia, died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Windsor Place Care Center, Iola.

She was born Lela Doris Williamson, the youngest of 11 children, to Arthur Eben and Laura May (Sime) Williamson, in rural Hartford on Sept. 10, 1925. She married Paul R. Traw in Burlington on April 9, 1944. He died May 4, 1996. 

Surviving members of the family include three sons, Dennis (Rena) Traw, Emporia, Pastor Steven P. Traw, Iola, and Rex B. (Linda) Traw, Tulsa, Okla.; three sisters, Bessie McCartney, Emporia, Lena Griffin, Burlington, and Jean Richards, Torrance, Calif.; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Traw worked for Interstate Bakeries/Dolly Madison Cake in Emporia for 21 years, retiring in 1990. She graduated from Strawn High School and was valedictorian of her class of three. She attended Kansas State Normal School (ESU) in Emporia and taught one year in the Otter Creek Elementary School in rural Coffey County. She was a member of Flint Hills Christian Church, Emporia.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Flint Hills Christian Church, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Bob Robison, Madison Christian Church. Burial will be in Strawn Cemetery, Coffey County.
