Dora Beachy, 90, died Sunday, July 3, 2016, at Windsor Place in Iola.
She was born Aug. 24, 1925, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Levi E. and Anna (Keim) Helmuth. She attended the Elmhirst School.
Dora married Alvin J. Beachy on Feb. 21, 1952, in Hutchinson. They made their home west of Garnett.
She worked as a dishwasher and enjoyed gardening and flowers. Dora was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin J. Beachy; two brothers, Enos “Bud” Helmuth and Floyd Helmuth; daughter, Arlene Ewing; a great-granddaughter, Abigail Sinclair; and a brother-in-law, Alvin S. Beachy; and one son-in-law, Vincent Hamilton Sr.
Dora is survived by six children, Martha Beachy, Garnett, Charlotte (Steve) Miller, Melvern, LeAnna (John) DeVoe, LaHarpe, Ralph Beachy, Garnett, Elmer Beachy, Garnett, and Viola Beachy, Garnett; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward (Verna) Helmuth, Sarasota, Fla.; two sisters, Katie Beachy and Lena Helmuth, both of Hutchinson; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Harley and Ruth Ann Yoder residence, 19536 NW 1700 Rd., Garnett. Burial will follow in the Amish Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the Yoder residence tonight from 6 to 8.
