Donna Doris Rose, age 83, of LaHarpe, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Allen County Regional Hospital, Iola, surrounded by her loving family. Donna was born Feb. 12, 1942, in Chanute, Kansas, to Harvey Smith and Doris (Ogden) Smith.

Donna attended school in Chanute and worked 30 years in quality control at Haldex Manufacturing. She and Kenneth Rose were married Nov. 17, 1985, in Bronson.

Donna liked to sew, scrapbook and craft, creating numerous treasures for her family, usually presented with a handmade card. She also enjoyed photography, her favorite subjects were her grandchildren. Donna loved to travel with Kenneth. They traveled together all over the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska. In her younger years, Donna was a social butterfly, enjoying activities with friends, including concerts, dance classes, and the latest fitness fads.

Above all, Donna was a person who found joy in life and she always had a ready smile and laugh. She was always caring for others. Donna’s grandchildren will always remember her for her famous song, “Give me a little hug, will ya, huh? Give me a little kiss, will ya, huh?”

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Scotty and Kenny Briley; daughter, Shari Cooper; and grandson-in-law, Tom Snyder.

Donna is survived by husband, Kenneth, of the home; son, Michael (Bobbi) Perkins; grandchildren, Tammy Snyder, Raven (David) Harrison, Ricky (Tasha) Keeler, Meg Perkins and Olivia Perkins; great-grandchildren, Aspen, Dawson, Winter, Deacon, Jenisis, Kealie, Raidyn, Carter, Hadley, Journey, Braylie and Fenix; great-great grandchildren, Jackson, Tidus; and siblings, Ernest Smith, Judith (Larry) McGhee, Buddy (Jan) Smith and Raymond (Nancy) Smith.

Upon her marriage to Kenneth, Donna’s life became fuller with the addition of Kenneth’s eight children, 24 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service for Donna will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10,  in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola. Family will greet friends prior to the service, from 1 to 2 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral service in the LaHarpe Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF), and may be left with the funeral home.
