Don Ervin Criger, 72, of Humboldt died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.
Don was born on Aug. 1, 1939, in Marmarth, N.D., to George A. and Helen M. (Hoag) Criger. He graduated from Howard High School in 1958. 
After graduation he served in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Janey (Bantz) Criger for more than 52 years. 
He was in law enforcement and drove a truck for many years, most recently for D&D Propane.
He was a member of the American Legion and Kansas Peace Officers Association.
He is survived by his wife, Janey, Humboldt; two sons, Mark and his wife, Monica, Humboldt, and Mike  of the home; one daughter, Donna Ellsworth and her husband, Chris, Humboldt; grandchildren, Reece Criger, Humboldt, Carina Criger, Shawnee, Lynda Land and her husband, Matt, Elgin, Texas, and David Ellsworth and his wife, Courtney, Humboldt; two great-grandchildren, JaLynn and Dominque Ellsworth, Humboldt; his mother, Helen Criger, Overbrook; and siblings, Bob, Altoona, Mac and his wife, Jo Ellen, Overbrook, Virginia Marti and her husband, Gary, Wichita, and Michelle Nunnenkamp and her husband, Kurt, Altoona.
He was preceded in death by a son, Marty, his father, George A., a brother, Jay, in-laws, Albert and Violet Bantz, brother-in-law, Rex Bantz, and sister-in-law, Vicki Criger.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt.
