Dietra “DeDe” McDown was welcomed into the loving arms of Our Lord on March 5, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
Dietra was born Sept. 10, 1955, in Bresley Colo., to Ethel Hagan and Manford Carr. The family moved to Kansas in 1968.
On May 3, 1977, she married Dale McDown. They made their home in LaHarpe. She had worked at Walmart since 2006.
She is survived by her husband Dale; five children, Jerry Dean McDown, Chanute, Stacy McDown, Buffalo, Michael McDown, Ala., Brian McDown, Independence, and Robert McDown, LaHarpe; and three sisters, Wanda Gatton, Coffeyville, Jackie Gay, LaHarpe, and Ester Moore, Chanute.
Family will receive friends and family at 12:30 p.m. today at LaHarpe City Hall with a celebration of her life following from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
