David Earl Town, 62, passed away at his home in Toronto, on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013.
David was born May 2, 1951, in Eureka, the son of Earl M. and Mary Jane (Williams) Town.
David was born and raised in the Woodson County area. He attended Yates Center schools and graduated from Yates Center High School. After high school, at the age of 17, David began his passion and career of driving a truck. He hauled cattle, hay and hogs, for Milton Nusz and Mason Cummins, Ibbetson Brothers, Jimmy Rogers Trucking, and Vic Adams Trucking. For nine years David managed the Pink Poodle in Fort Worth, Texas. David also served in the National Guard and was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 121.
David was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughters, LaDusta Williams and son-in-law Ryan Robinette and Lisa McDougal and husband Andy; his sons, Jeff Meredith and wife Porscha and Cody Meredith and wife Kendra; a sister Rita Crumrine and husband Jack. David is also survived by seven grandchildren; three nephews; three nieces; five great-nephews; eight great-nieces; three great-great nieces; and two great-great nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Cremation is planned. Memorial services for David are at 4 p.m. Saturday, at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center. The family suggests memorials be made to the “Friends for Life” or Harry Hynes Hospice and may be sent in care of Campbell Funeral Home P.O. Box 188 Yates Center, KS 66783.
