Curtis Leon Jeffers, 89, died of natural causes Dec. 11, 2015, in Lubbock, Texas.
He is survived by his son Steve (wife Kim), of Lubbock; his daughter Lori (husband Dan) of Knoxville, Md.; one sister, Virginia Coone, Ocala, Fla.; and various nieces and nephews. Mr. Jeffers also has three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Louise, who died in September of this year; brothers Virgil, Wayne, Dail and Eddie; and sisters Catherine, Marguerite and Helen.
He was born in Iola on Aug. 4, 1926, to Maude (Kline) and Harry Dail Jeffers. Curtis was a veteran of WWII and the Korean conflict. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He loved his country and was proud to be a Marine. In November 1950 Curtis married Louise Hauer. When his military service ended, they moved to Wichita, ere they lived for 60 years. He worked at Boeing but after a time left this job to focus on his small repair business and several other business endeavors in which he was successful.
In 2010 they moved to Lubbock to be closer to their son. A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday  at Highland Cemetery in Iola. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Woundedwarriorproject.org in honor of Curtis L. Jeffers.
