Connie Joan Prock, age 77, of Iola, passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at Via Christi Saint Francis Hospital in Wichita. Connie was born Sept. 18, 1940, in Great Bend, to John Ira Fosdick and June Magdalene Tullis Fosdick.

Connie graduated in 1958 from Blue Mound High School. Connie and Wesley Levoy Miles were united in marriage on Jan. 24, 1959, in Fort Scott. They later divorced. Connie and James Prock were married Feb. 23, 1981, in Gas.

Connie was a member of the Moran Eastern Star, receiving her 25-year membership pin. She was a member of Saint John’s Catholic Church, Iola. Connie was active in the American Legion VFW, serving as the organization’s secretary for many years. Connie served on the Iola Housing Authority Board for over 10 years. Connie volunteered at the Iola Public Library and Iola Meals on Wheels.

Connie worked in Fort Scott, at Keys Industries, Peerless Products, and Western Insurance. She worked in Iola, at Sonic Drive-In, H.L. Miller & Son dress factory, and Haldex, retiring as a layout quality control inspector in 2005.

Connie loved her family, her dogs, and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed the Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, and the Arkansas Razorbacks. She enjoyed crocheting, science fiction movies, horror movies, and reading. Connie loved sunflowers and owls, and decorated her house with lots of them.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband, James Prock; her parents; one great-granddaughter, Emma Miles; one sister, Thelma Mittelmeier; two brothers-in-law, Ron Mittelmeier and John Larney; and her two best four-legged friends, April and Blue.

Connie is survived by her son, Les D. Miles and wife, Anna, Fort Scott; one daughter, Connie Marie Davis and husband, Mark, Gravette, Ark.; three step-sons, Ed Prock, Iola, J.F. Prock, Iola, and Lyle Prock, Okla.; one step-daughter, Cindy Prock, Topeka; one brother, Lyle Fosdick and wife, Crystal, Iola; two sisters, Betty Larney, Iola, and Cindy Dauben and husband, Don, Lamar, Mo.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren arriving later this fall; seven step-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola. A funeral service honoring Connie’s life will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Iola. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Blue Mound.

Memorials are suggested to Golden Rod Chapter 163, Order of the Eastern Star; Iola Meals On Wheels; Iola Public Library; or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
