Connie Sue Curry, 67, Yates Center, passed away Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at the Yates Center Health Care Center.
She was born Oct. 1, 1947, in Iola, the daughter of Floyd and Betty (Howard) Patterson.
She grew up on the family farm near Yates Center and graduated from Yates Center High School in 1966. She then attended business college in Wichita.
She lived in Iola where she worked as a cook at Perry’s Restaurant and at Thompson Poultry. She then returned to Yates Center and was a cook at the 107 Inn and managed the Peter Pan Store. She later was employed as a home health aide and served as a Camp Host at Toronto Lake.
On Nov. 16, 1980, she and Gary Lee Curry were married in Yates Center.
Connie and Gary were foster parents for 28 years. They cared for a number of foster sons in their home over the years.
Connie was a member of United Methodist Church in Yates Center. In her leisure time she enjoyed embroidery and loved taking care of her cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She leaves her husband, Gary; a foster son, Christopher Reissig; her brother, Floyd “Pat” Patterson, Jr. and wife Donna; two sisters, Glenda Freeman and husband Bud and Carol Stuber and husband Ray, all of Yates Center; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Cremation is planned. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at Yates Center Cemetery.
