Clarine Steward, 87, Overland Park, formerly of Iola, died Friday, April 10, 2015, at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park.
Clarine was born June 25, 1927, in Iola, the daughter of Clarence Lee and Zelma Maurine (Grasty) Warford. She graduated from Iola High School and worked as a telephone operator.
On Nov. 8, 1946, Clarine married Wendell Steward in Manhattan. They made their home in Iola until moving to Overland Park. She worked in the library at Johnson County Community College until she retired. Wendell preceded her in death Sept. 29, 2007.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Iola. She had been active in PTA while raising her family and enjoyed bowling.
She is survived by her three children, Sharon Staley and husband Charles, Willard, Mo., Wendy Ledford and husband Butch, Overland Park, and Mark Steward and wife Kathy, Overland Park; three grandchildren, Sean and Scott Littlepage and Traci Steinmetz; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son, Lyle Scott Steward.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Chapel in Iola. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Iola. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
