Charles D. “Chuck” Womelsdorf, 76, of Chanute died Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.
He was born April 28, 1934, in Fort Scott, to Henry Webster and Leah Elsie (Allen) Womelsdorf. He grew up in the Mapleton, Xenia and Blue Mound areas.
He married Lois Marvin in 1957. They had five children and later divorced. 
He owned a tire shop in Colony in the mid 1970s. He later worked as a pipeliner and then as a carpenter. He enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by three sons, Charles Dean Jr. and his wife, Patty, Moran, Dennis, LaHarpe, and Dereck and his wife, Tammy, Iola; two daughters, Terri Nicholls and her husband, Ron, Ottawa, and Teresa Burton and her husband, Rick, Gas; two sisters, Dixie Ramsey, Colony, and Kay Womelsdorf, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A brother, Dan, and an infant sibling died earlier.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Welda Cemetery.
