Lowen Allen “Chip” McDonald, 63, Buffalo, died Sunday, July 18, 2010.
He was born May 5, 1947, in Fay, Okla., to Edgar and Elaine McDonald, the oldest of six children.
The family lived in Oklahoma and Illinois before moving to a farm near Moran. He was graduated from Moran High School and Iola Junior College.
He married Vickie Rooney of Elsmore and continued his education at Emporia State University. His varied career featured working at I.B.P., Inc., owning and operating his own restaurant in Lyndon, selling vehicles in Emporia and Topeka and later owning and operating his own transportation business for foster children.
He was a member of the Americus Jaycees, Emporia Optimists Club and the Buffalo United Methodist Church. He also spent numerous hours coaching youth in softball and baseball as well as heading hunter safety programs.  
He is survived by his wife, Vickie, of the home; his mother, Elaine, of Yates Center; two sons, Sean and his wife, Traci, and their three children, Clay Center, and Matthew and his wife, Marta, Colorado Springs, Colo.; siblings Patricia Powell and her husband, David, Caldwell, Debbie Stange and her husband, Jim, Howard, David and his wife, Cindy, Yates Center, and Lisa Barnow and her husband, Terry, Chanute.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar, of Yates Center and an infant sister, Sandra McDonald.
A memorial service is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Buffalo United Methodist Church in Buffalo. There will be no graveside service because his body was donated for research to the University of Kansas Medical Center. His eyes were donated to a recipient as well.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in his name.
Campbell Funeral Home, Yates Center, is in charge of the arrangements.
