Cherie Evelina Burch, 46, of Iola died Friday, May 27, 2011, at her home.
She was born July 10, 1964, in Portland, Ore., to Charles E. and Evelina L. (Walls) Burch. She grew up in Vancouver, Wash., where she graduated from Columbia River High School. In high school she was active in band and debate. She played the organ and flute and enjoyed painting.
She had made her home in the Vancouver area most of her life and moved to Iola from Oregon a little over a year ago to care for her mother.
She was a member of Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church in Iola.
She is survived by her mother, Evelina Burch, of the home; and four children, Charles, Boise, Idaho, Montel Speller, Baltimore, Md., Ariella McCowan, Washington state, and Ciarra Millers of Wichita.
She was preceded in death by her father and a son, Tyree Burch.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday at Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church in Iola. The Rev. Barbara Miniefee will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
