Charles Nicholas Thummel, 79, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at his home in Thayer.
Charles was born in Tipton, on July 13, 1932, the son of Joseph and Anna (Simeon) Thummel. He attended Piqua schools.
He was united in marriage to Dorotha L. White on Sept. 14, 1970, in Miami, Okla.
Charles owned Thummel Lumber Company and also was a cattleman.
Along with his wife Dorotha, he is survived by his children, Marsha S. Bogle, Chanute, Joni Y. Thummel, Humboldt, Rodney C. Thummel, Yates Center, Clifford C. Thummel, Humboldt, Oliver F. Bunker, Chanute, and Bryan C. Thummel, Thayer; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rozella Koester, Chanute; and a brother, Leo Thummel, Iola.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, three brothers and a grandson.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute. Burial will follow at 11:45 a.m. at St. Martin’s Catholic Cemetery in Piqua. The family will receive friends this evening from 6:30 to 7:30 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, followed by Rosary at 7:45.
