Former Iola resident Charlene C. Clark, 95, died today, June 25, 2010, at Lake Point Nursing Center in El Dorado.
She was born Nov. 24, 1914, in Warrensburg, Mo., to Charles N. and Mary E. (Greer) Saling. She grew up on a farm near Denton, Mo. At the age of 14 she moved to Kansas City with her family.
They returned to the farm and on Dec. 19, 1935, she married Harley O. Clark. They made their home on a farm north of Iola before moving to Iola in 1951. He died Oct. 9, 1991.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her church, family, cooking, and fishing.
She is survived by a son, Nelson, El Dorado; two daughters, Rosalee Nelson and her husband, Bob, El Dorado, and Beth Gatlin and her husband, Wally, Nowata, Okla.; a brother, George Saling, Holden, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A son, Harley O. “Lonnie” Jr., a brother and three sisters died earlier.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary United Methodist Church in Iola. The Rev. Gene Mclntosh will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
