Cecil Ray McClure, 73, LaHarpe, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita.

Cecil was born July 9, 1938, at Bassett, the son of Leslie K. and Louise (Michael) McClure. He grew up in Iola and lived in this area all of his life.

On April 21, 1963, Cecil married Jeanne W. Oshel in LaHarpe. He worked as a mechanic for various places in Iola, including the Sinclair station and Moore’s Auto Supply. He had lived in La-Harpe since 1990.

He enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include the mother of his children, Jeanne McClure, Iola; five daughters, Jeanne Witchley and husband Ted, LaHarpe, Marianne Morris and husband Ken, Humboldt, Angela Hale and husband James, Seminole, Okla., Linda McClure, Oklahoma City, and Virginia Shaffer, Iola; two brothers, Jerry McClure, Fredonia, and Steve McClure, Uniontown; a sister, Margie Schooler, Dewey, Okla.; 10 grandchildren, Vanessa, Amanda, Crystal, David, Timothy, Christian, Katie, Christopher, Jacob and Rachel; and eight great-grandchildren, Abigail, Alora, Gabby, Dylan, Izabella, Alleyah, Terry and Lilly.

He was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Jeanine Gayle and Sherrianne, an infant son, Cecil Ray Jr., and a brother, Arthur D. McClure.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Memorial gifts for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.iolafuneral.com.
