Carol Yocum, 85, of Topeka and formerly of Iola died Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka.
She was born May 31, 1924, in Iola, to Robert and Letha Stateler Yocum.
She worked for 20 years as a medical assistant for Dr. Frank Lenski Sr. and Dr. Frank Lenski Jr. in Iola. She then moved to Topeka where she was employed with Blue Cross/Blue Shield 21 1/2 years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Dorcas Circle. She assisted with Lutheran Braille Workers. She volunteered at St. Francis Hospital for several years.
She is survived by her sisters, Alta Frantz, Seattle, Wash., her twin sister Farel and her husband, Phil Nicholas, Lake San Marcos, Calif., and Diana and her husband Fred Rinner, Topeka.
Two sisters, Wilma McBee and Verl Childress, died earlier.
Cremation is planned.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wesley Hall at Aldersgate Village.
